“`html EPL: ‘It’s sad he didn’t give Jackson the ball’ – Frank Leboeuf criticizes Chelsea star

Published

on

Former Chelsea defender, Frank Leboeuf, expressed his disappointment with Malo Gusto, stating that it was regrettable the defender didn’t pass the ball to his teammate Nicolas Jackson during the first half of the Blues’ Premier League 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday.

Chelsea had been leading Manchester City 1-0 until the 83rd minute, courtesy of Raheem Sterling’s first-half goal, before Rodri equalized for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Despite being pleased with Gusto’s overall performance, Leboeuf was also disheartened by his failure to deliver the ball to Jackson in the 23rd minute.

“I wasn’t expecting that performance,” Leboeuf told ESPN.

“Axel Disasi was absolutely fantastic, as was Malo Gusto on the right side. Ben Chilwell in the second half was also very good.

“What about Nicolas Jackson in the first half? He had two chances. It’s sad Malo Gusto didn’t give him the ball in the first half because Chelsea could have been leading 2-0 at half-time.”
