Lagos Achievers Lions Club Engages The Youth

In commemoration of the International Youth Day, the Lagos Achievers Lions Club, a member of the Lions Clubs International, District 404A3 Nigeria organized a Youth Seminar and Skills acquisition orientation on Saturday 26 August, 2023 at Obalende primary school, Obalende-Ikoyi, Lagos for the youth within the community.

The event, themed “Eradicating Drug Abuse and Crimes among the youth” was well attended by the youths including members of the Leo club, the youth wing of the Lions club.

Two Guest Speakers Lion Dr. Bridget Osakwe, the National Network Coordinator, WANEP and Miss Francisca Okwulehie, a youth advocacy speaker engaged the youth in different interactive sessions to enlighten them on the dangers and consequences of involving in any of the social vices.

In the skils acquisition orientation, Mr Agbaje Hassan Eniola, the
Creative director of Agbajelola Eko Ventures and other facilitators from the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association Vocational Training Centre, Obalende engaged the youth on basics knowledge of different vocations which include shoemaking, tailoring, ICT and catering.

The club president, Lion Ifeoluwa Ibirogba in her opening remarks told the participants that the purpose of organising the event is to discourage them from crimes and direct their minds to different vocations that will be useful to them in the future.

The Club Chairperson for youth program committee Lion Thomas Anyanwu in his closing remarks informed the participants that the event is just the phase 1 of the club”s program for the youth. He said the phase 2 will be the sponsorship of the participants to attend a full skill acquisition program. He implored those interested in further learning of any of the courses presented by the facilitors to register their names for screening and selection to the shoemaking workshop and vocational centre.

Present at the event were the Region chairperson Lion Hakeem Adeleke, the club service chairperson Lion Sylvia Effah, other members of the Lions club, the Leo club president Leo Muneerah with her members, some parents of the participants, community leaders and staff of Obalende primary school.

The club also donated exercise books and pen to all the participants and guests.

The participants show their appreciation and thank the Lions club for the opportunity giving to them.

This is to inform the General Public, especially Zamfara State Indigenes; that the University has commenced admission of candidates in the 2023/2024 Academic Session. Therefore, UTME and DE Candidates willing to apply into various programmes offered by the University are advised to visit nearest Jamb office or CBT Centre and CHANGE their 1 choice of Institution to Zamfara State University, Talata Mafara.

Candidates are to NOTE that; they are also required to upload their O’ level results on the JAMB’s Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) platform through their e-facility profiles.
