ZERIBE NWOSU FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND DATA SCIENCE, 2024

The Zeribe Nwosu Foundation is pleased to announce the initiation of the Zeribe Nwosu Scholarship (ZNS) on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (ZNS AIDS) for the year 2024. Prospective applicants are invited to carefully review the eligibility criteria outlined below and utilize the provided application form for submission.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Zeribe Nwosu Scholarship on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science 2024

To be considered, applicants must:

A. Be at least in the fourth year of undergraduate studies or not more than one year since project defense.

B. Be a student or graduate of a Nigerian university or polytechnic, whether private or public.

C. Have achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) of at least 3.5 on a scale of 5 during the first three years of study. For polytechnic students or those in universities using a 4.0 scale, a rough conversion to a percentage is acceptable (e.g., CGPA of 2.8 out of 4.0 or 70% will be considered). Medical students are required to present Year 1 results and evidence of achieving a “Pass” for subjects taken in Years 2-3.

D. Face no restriction regarding the field of study. Graduates should have a final CGPA of at least 3.0 on a scale of 5.0 or a rough conversion of 60%.

APPLICATION MATERIALS

Applicants are required to submit the following:

1. A one-page personal statement.

2. A one-to-two-page CV, including a section listing AI/data science tools used or developed.

3. One letter of recommendation on official letterhead.

4. Unofficial transcripts of academic records from Years 1-3. Applicants in Year 5, 6, or graduates should include additional transcripts as appropriate.

5. Undergraduate admission letter.*

6. A statement of need (100 to 200 words) explaining why the scholarship is essential.

7. A work/practical portfolio providing evidence of accomplishments in AI, data science, or both. This can include publications, Github profile, software/applications developed, websites, or databases created/maintained, demonstrating proficiency in statistics/programming languages, SQL, power BI, Tableau, visualization tools, and machine learning.

*All application materials are individually assessed, and applications receive a score for completeness.

AWARD VALUE

Successful candidates will each receive N150,000.

TIMELINE

– January 1: Application opens

– April 1: Application closes (11:59 pm Nigeria Time)

– June 20: Applicants informed about the review decision

– July 1-20: Interviews

– August 1: Announcement of successful candidates
