UTME: AGENTS HAVE NO REASON TO EXTORT CANDIDATES – JAMB REGISTRAR, OLOYEDE

Published

on

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB Prof. Is-haq Oloyede has warmed all E-pin vendors against extortion of candidates as the board will not tolerate it. They have no reason to sell above the approved price by the board for the 2023 UTME.

He said, we’ve made available to all agents helping the board to sell personal identification number, E-PIN enough provisions to compensate them, so I don’t see any reason why they will sell above prescribed amount.

While monitoring the registration at Lagos State on Tuesday in some centres, said the board has disbursed N300 million to all E-pin vendors as Commission.

Oloyede said, the board has already reach agreement with all the vendors of personal identification number, E-pin, the agreement we have with them is five per cent of the amount per E-pin. But to our surprised some vendors are selling it N6,500 instead of N5,700.

This act is despicable and unacceptable by the Board. We pay all the agents their Commission every Friday of the week, as at last week Friday, we paid N300 million to them, so why increase in the price.

He announced the immediate suspension of two vendors, Digital Partners and Parkway Project, for selling the PIN to applicants at rates higher than the prescribed price N5,700, we would not accept extortion by any agents.

When addressing the issue of reduction in CBTs centres by the Board, he said the reason why we reduce the centres is because most of the centres aid examination malpractice and the act us punishable and unacceptable. So is better to have few centres that can help the board than to have many centres aiding examination malpractice.

We’ve made enough provision available to register 100,000 applicants on a daily basis, the highest we’ve registered so far is 65,000 candidates daily. With this calculation, we can register 1.8 million applicants before the deadline of the registration elapse, February, 14th, he said.

Any centres that was unable to start exam an hour after the scheduled time, the operator of such centre will get in touch with us and the candidates will be inform of the new date and time their exam will hold before the depart from the centre, he added.
