The electronic verification system for military retirees will soon go live

Published

on

A new Electronic Verification Management System for military retirees has been launched by the Federal Government. The new system aims to replace the traditional physical verification process for veterans to access their pensions, gratuities, and other benefits

The introduction of the electronic system comes as a response to retirees’ complaints about the challenging physical verification process, particularly for them due to their advanced age.

During the unveiling of the system in Abuja, the Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, Air Vice Marshal Paul Irumheson, addressed journalists and highlighted the challenges of continuing with the physical verification exercise, such as the high cost of transportation and security risks.

The testing phase of the electronic verification system will involve over 11,000 retirees distributed across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, starting on February 19.

Irumheson emphasized the difficulties associated with the physical verification exercise and highlighted the development of a web-based system, the Electronic Verification Management System, that will allow pensioners to carry out their verification from the comfort of their locations using a mobile device.

The board will commence the deployment of the electronic verification application with a pilot test involving 300 pensioners from each state, taking place from February 19 to March 1, 2024.
