JAMB ISSUES NOTICE TO CANDIDATES ON CREATION OF PROFILES

Published

on

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has encouraged candidates to register profiles on its portal in order to avoid any delays in the registration process for its 2023 exam.

Previously, JAMB set January 14 as the start date for registration and April 29 as the start date for the 2023 UTME.

The board said in the most recent edition of its weekly bulletin that candidates are free to build their profiles even before the official start of the UTME registration process.

“To do this, every candidate would be required to use a unique phone (mobile) number (SIM) for the process of registration. This, in essence, means that the unique phone number can only be used by one candidate,” it said.

Candidates are also to note that this number (SIM) remains their unique identification for all their subsequent transactions with the Board.

“To create a profile, candidates will send their national identification number (NIN) by text (SMS) to either 55019 or 66019 from their personal GSM number.

“Candidates will write the word “NIN” then leave a space and add their 11-digit NIN and send to 55019 or 66019 in this format: NIN 00123456789. They are to note the space between the word “NIN” and their 11-digit NIN.”

JAMB said the number to be used by the candidates to create the profile must not have been used by another person to register for UTME/DE in the past.

Candidates are requested not to use post-paid or any other special bundle package as this will not work unless specially loaded with call credit,” the board added.

“Once the NIN has been sent to 55019 or 66019, a profile code of 10 characters will be received by the candidate on the same telephone (SIM) number.

“Returning candidates from previous years will still receive the same profile code on the phone number they had used previously.

It is to be noted that the profile created remains the same for candidates either in their present or future transactions with the Board.

“This is because the number used to send the text message is automatically tied to the candidate’s name and will be used in all communications relating to the candidates’ 2023 or future application, examination, and admission.”
