In Adamawa, a suspected gang member was killed in a clash with vigilantes
In the capital city of Yola, a suspected member of the notorious youth gang known as Shila Boys in Adamawa State was killed during a clash with vigilantes.
Uba, the youth in question, was fatally stabbed when the gang confronted the vigilantes at Demsawo Government Day Secondary School in Jimeta.
According to witnesses, the hoodlums, armed with knives, sticks, and cutlasses, attacked the school, assailed the teachers, and caused damage to cars and school property.
The youth reportedly launched the attack in retaliation after one of their members was apprehended by the vigilantes guarding the school.
The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the arrest of a suspected Shila Boys member, Muhammadu Musa, believed to have orchestrated the clash.
The command also detained the vigilante Nasiru Abdullahi, accused of using the weapon that resulted in Uba’s death.
Reports revealed that Musa, accompanied by four other boys, had disguised themselves as students and gained unauthorized access to the school premises on January 29. Their suspicious activities led to their apprehension by the vigilantes.
During the confrontation in the principal’s office, Musa attempted to escape by brandishing a knife but was overpowered by the vigilantes, while his accomplices managed to flee.
Subsequently, the four boys regrouped and launched a second assault on the school, attacking the vigilantes and reachable teachers.
Upon attempting to machete Nasiru Abdullahi, the boys were unsuccessful due to his charms. In self-defense, Nasiru used the knife he had seized from Muhammadu Musa to fatally stab Uba.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, provided an update, assuring that the police will arrest the fleeing Shila Boys and prosecute all the suspects.
