Controversy Surrounds Image of Adeboye Sitting on Oyo Monarch’s Throne

Published

on

An image of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, seated on the throne of the Olugbon of Orile Igbon in Oyo State, Oba Francis Alao Akinbola, has sparked considerable debate among social media users.

Originally posted by the RCCG Public Relations, the photo has generated mixed reactions since its circulation.

While some individuals criticize the clergyman for occupying the monarch’s seat, others place responsibility on the king for allowing it.

Reposting the photo, an individual identified as animolenikun expressed disapproval, stating, “PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE stop disgracing our heritage, do your things and respect our culture pls. Don’t tarnish the name you have built, because if Yoruba stands up against all this act, you’ll surely regret it, sir.”

Another commenter, HilawJamal1891, shifted the blame to the Olugbon, remarking, “I feel the blame should be placed under the feet of Olugbon…on what basis would he stand up off his throne for Baba Adeboye? He should be dethroned with immediate effect.”

Niass204 also expressed disappointment, stating, “I don’t have him to blame I blame our so-called Obas who decide to subject themselves to ridicule. Why would an Oba vacate his sit for him to sit on? That means HE the Olugbon doesn’t have respect for that seat.”

Offering a different perspective, Deyemi Saka remarked, “I see nothing but pride in Pastor Adeboye. If he is as humble as you all claim, he would have declined this offer/gesture.”

Oyebolaji Collins Adewale also weighed in, stating, “Adeboye is an ordinary man and not a god, but he has placed himself in the position of a god by sitting on the throne of a traditional king. It is not in doubt that God comes first, but Adeboye is not god.”

Amid the criticisms, some social media users expressed support for the pastor’s actions.

Adeshorpeh0912 tweeted, “If God said, kings will bow before you, the thought of man and its opinion doesn’t concern God. It is going to happen. This is a living testimony.
No dey whine God.”

Kaayleb Ihasabemon commented on Facebook, “The Bible says we are Kings 👑 with Christ who’s the King of kings, so we can sit on any throne. Baba is in order, don’t work yourselves out with trivialities.”

Pastor Adeboye brought his church’s evangelism programme, ‘Let’s go fishing,’ to Orile-Igbon in Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State on Friday, as reported by NewsNow.

on

Logos Olori, a signee of DMW, asserted that he penned the lyrics to the Grammy-nominated track ‘Unavailable’ by his record label chief Davido, which features Musa Keys.

He expressed that he was the mastermind behind the track, with his colleague Peruzzi contributing to the verse.

In a recent interview with Cool FM in Lagos, the singer revealed this information.

According to Logos Olori: “We created ‘Unavailable’ which got a Grammy nod. The collaborative effort happened in Ajah involving myself, Magicsticks, and Ragee. It was even Rihanna’s favorite song in 2023.”

He further elaborated: “I crafted the song, while Peruzzi was responsible for the verse. Following the initial creation, Davido requested a change in the verse, prompting Peruzzi to step in. However, the core idea of the song was mine. We made some adjustments; that’s when Musa Keys and Peruzzi got involved.”

A running call indicates that instead of directly contacting the Fire Service Emergency line, individuals attempted to physically reach the fire station to alert the firefighters.

“The fire was noticed just before ten o’clock, perhaps around 9:45 am. We received a running call approximately thirteen minutes after ten, and we promptly followed the informant to the location of the fire.

“Upon arrival, we found the fire had consumed the entire upper floor. We focused on preventing the fire from spreading to the ground floor and neighboring buildings. Fortunately, there were no casualties,” he explained.

The recent bust by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) uncovered an organized criminal network responsible for smuggling illicit drugs, arms, and ammunition from Durban, South Africa to the Tincan seaport in Lagos. Among those apprehended as part of this syndicate are Falowo Samuel Kayode, a clearing agent for the containers, dock worker Anjorin Idowu, and Uzairu Ahmed Iguda, who oversees operations at the Five Star terminal.

Investigations unveiled that the trio collaborated to move 192.7kg of Colorado, a pistol, and ammunition from one container to another within the terminal. Another key member of the syndicate, Mohammed Muktar Sule, is currently evading law enforcement.

NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, revealed these developments in a statement issued on Sunday. The agency uncovered 56.39kg of cocaine and 795kg of Colorado during a joint examination of containers MSCU 4581770 and TRHU 7968071 on January 18 and 19, 2024.

Further probing led to the seizure of a total of 56.39kg of cocaine and 987.9kg of Colorado, amounting to 1,044.29kg from the two containers. The agency identified three kingpins based in South Africa—Odeyemi Taiwo Emmanuel, Akinyemi Olayinka, and Adebayo Adewole Emmanuel—who are now wanted by authorities.

In a separate operation in Edo State, NDLEA raided a drug joint in Benin City, resulting in the arrest of a salesgirl named Jessica Destiny and the proprietor, Ibrahim Sani, who also commands the Arewa Association Vigilantes.

Across various states, NDLEA officers intercepted multiple drug trafficking attempts. From Lagos to Kano, at Jega-Sokoto Road in Kebbi State, and in different locations in Borno, Kaduna, Abuja, Anambra, and more, individuals were apprehended with narcotics. Operations also led to the discovery of drugs concealed in courier shipments destined for the UK and Cyprus.
