UNIVERSITY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (UNIMED), ONDO ANNOUNCES SALES OF ADMISSION INTO SPECIAL ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2023/2024 SESSION
1. Transitional- Doctor of Physiotherapy Programme [80% virtually driven (Online)]
Duration: 12 months or 18 months
Admission requirement:
To be admitted into the programme, leading to award of tDPT degree from the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, candidate must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
- Prospective candidates must have subjects with credit in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English Language, and Mathematics in the West African School Certificate of Examination (WASCE) or National Examination Council (NECO) provided that all subjects are taken and passed at not more than two sittings.
- For 18-month duration: Prospective candidates must be graduates with a minimum of second-class lower division (2:2) or pass grade (50% aggregate) in any of the Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (BScPT), Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (BMR (Physiotherapy option), and Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) degree.
- For 12-month duration: Prospective candidates who possesses the required first degree with additional qualification of Masters degree or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in any relevant specialty to physiotherapy, shall spend a minimum of 12 months.
2. B.Sc. CONVERSION PROGRAMMES (Duration: 6 Semesters)
The B.Sc. Conversion Programmes are to enable graduates gain admission into Degree Programmes of the University to improve their opportunities for employment and professional advancement. This programme will be in the following Courses:
i. Community Health Science
ii. Environmental Health Science
iii. Health Information Management System
iv. Biological Sciences (Microbiology, Animal & Environmental Biology, Plant Biology and Biotechnology)
v. Chemistry
vi. Physics
vii. Computer Science
viii. Science Laboratory Technology
viii. Prosthetic and Orthotics
Eligibility for B.Sc. Conversion Programme
Candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in SSCE/NECO.
a. Holders of Higher National Diploma in relevant discipline or
b. Holders of relevant professional certificates that are recognized as HND equivalent
In addition, the candidate MUST have NYSC Discharge Certificate or NYSC Exemption Certificate

Eligible candidates should log on to University website www.unimed.edu.ng . Then, take the following steps: i
i. Click on Admission;
ii. Click on B.Sc Conversion;
iii. Click on PAYMENT to make payment via online payment system usingVISA or MASTER Card. Note that VERVE Card is not allowed;
iv. After payment, Print Payment Receipt
v. Click on APPLICATION FORM with your Payment Transaction ID to complete the form.

SYSTEMSPECS CHILDREN’S DAY ESSAY COMPETITION (CDEC), 2024
Purpose:
Inaugurated in 2020, the CDEC is part of SystemSpecs’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to promoting capacity development in the Nigerian ICT industry. By encouraging young Nigerians to tackle everyday issues, the competition contributes to intellectual growth and societal progress.
Topic:
The theme for the 2024 competition is “Protecting the Nigerian Child from the Dangers of Online Technology.” Participants are tasked with exploring strategies to safeguard children in an increasingly digital world.
Eligibility:
– Open to primary and secondary school students in Nigeria aged 9 to 16.
– Junior category (ages 9 to 12) essays must not exceed 1,000 words.
– Senior category (ages 13 to 16) essays must not exceed 1,500 words.
Prizes:
– Winners will receive generous rewards, including a high-capacity laptop, premium headphones, a portable laptop stand, a smart wristwatch, and one year of internet data, among other items.
