MARITIME ACADEMY OF NIGERIA RELEASES 2023/2024 HND ADMISSION FORM

The Management of Maritime Academy of Nigeria hereby invites suitably qualified candidates for admission into the various two (2) years (four semesters) Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes of the Academy for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Online registration opens on Wednesday, 26th July 2023, and close on Friday, 22nd September 2023. The following full time HND programmes are on offer:

  • – Nautical Science
  • – Marine Engineering
  • – Maritime Transport and Business Management

 

1.0 MODES OF CORRESPONDENCE
Candidates seeking admission into the Academy must have a functional and accessible electronic mail (e-mail) address and mobile phone number for correspondence. Candidates are not required to present themselves physically, except on invitation through the Website Publication and e-mail/text message.

2.0 ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

2.1) SSCE/ND REQUIREMENTS
A. Nautical Science
i)Applicants must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which must include:
-Mathematics,
-English Language,
-Physics,
-Geography, and
-Any other related science subjects obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings.

ii)Applicants must possess National Diploma Certificate in Nautical Science with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The applicant must also have a JAMB Registration Number.

iii)Applicants must have completed a minimum of one (1) year post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of one (1) year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.

iv)Applicants with PASS at the National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have completed a minimum of two (2) years post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of two (2) years cognate work experience in a relevant organization.

B. Marine Engineering
i)Applicants must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent
with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which must include:
-Mathematics,
-English Language,
-Physics,
-Chemistry, and
-Any other related science subjects obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings.

ii)Applicants must possess National Diploma Certificate in Marine Engineering with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The applicant must also have a JAMB Registration Number.

iii)Applicants with ND in Boat and Ship Building Technology obtained from Maritime Academy of Nigeria with a CGPA not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) are eligible to apply.

iv)Applicants must have completed a minimum of one (1) year post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of one (1) year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.

v)Applicants with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have completed a minimum of two (2) years post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of two (2) years cognate work experience in a relevant organization.

C. Maritime Transport and Business Management
i)Applicants must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which must include:
-Mathematics,
-English Language,
-Economics, and
-Any two (2) of Geography, Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting or Business Management obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings.

ii)Applicants must possess National Diploma Certificate in Maritime Transport and Business Studies with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The applicant must also have a JAMB Registration Number.

iii)Applicants must have completed a minimum of one (1) year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or acquired a minimum of one (1) year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.

iv)Applicants with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have completed a minimum of two (2) years post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or acquired a minimum of two (2) years cognate work experience in a relevant organization.

2.2 ACADEMY TRANSCRIPT
Academic Transcripts of applicants from other accredited institutions must reach the Office of the Coordinator Academic Affairs on or before the close of the application portal, via the email address admission@maritimeacademy.gov.ng.

3.0 PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL FITNESS
1) Due to the peculiar requirements of the institution and the maritime industry as well as the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) as amended which mandates all Seafarers to be physically and mentally fit to work in the maritime industry, all applicants are expected to be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the rigours/challenges of the cadetship training. Consequently, shortlisted candidates will be required to present themselves for physical and medical screening when invited.

2) Candidate must download Medical Examination Form (Form M) from the application portal. This form must be duly completed and signed before uploading on the portal.

3) Candidates are expected to undergo the following medical test at any Government Hospital and upload results on the application portal:

  • -PCV
  • -VDRL
  • -HBV
  • -HIV1/2
  • -FASTING BLOOD SUGAR (FBS)
  • -PT (Pregnancy Test for Females)
  • -URINALYSIS
  • -GENOTYPE
  • -BLOOD GROUP

The medical test must be carried out between 26th July 2023 and 22nd September 2023.
Note: The uploaded medical test results will be subject to further confirmation when invited for screening.

4.0 APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  • Create an Account
  • Log in using your Account Credentials
  • Generate RRR
  • Select the Mode of Payment of your Choice
  • Proceed to the bank of your choice to make payment Via Remita Payment Platform or pay online
  • Return to the Academy Portal to complete your Registration.

 

5.0 COMMENCEMENT/CLOSING DATES
Application Portal opens on 26th July 2023 and closes on 22nd September 2023.

The SystemSpecs Children’s Day Essay Competition (CDEC) is an annual event aimed at fostering innovative thinking among primary and secondary school students in Nigeria. It provides a platform for young minds to propose technological solutions to national challenges.

Purpose:

SystemSpecs Children’s Day Essay Competition (CDEC), 2024

Topic:
The theme for the 2024 competition is “Protecting the Nigerian Child from the Dangers of Online Technology.” Participants are tasked with exploring strategies to safeguard children in an increasingly digital world.

Eligibility:
– Open to primary and secondary school students in Nigeria aged 9 to 16.
