Kellogg’s Super Star Essay Competition Awards N25,000,000 in Educational Grants Nationwide!
Kellogg Tolaram Nigeria, the makers of Nigeria’s leading breakfast cereal, recently honored students and schools who emerged victorious in the “Kellogg’s Super Star Essay Competition 5.0” at a prize presentation ceremony. The annual competition, which commenced in 2019, has expanded to provide educational support to over 1.8 million pupils in approximately 12,000 schools nationwide.
The 5th edition of the Kellogg’s Super Star Essay Competition saw the participation of an impressive 350,000 students from schools across Nigeria. Out of this exceptional pool of talent, 150 students emerged as winners, each securing a substantial educational grant of N150,000.
Kelly Tolaram Nigeria extended its commendation not only to individual students but also to their schools. The top-performing schools were acknowledged with significant prizes:
Ebenezer African Church School, Lagos (1st Place): With 380 entries, the school secured the 1st position, winning a grand prize of N500,000 and Products.
Abbot Dayspring School, Lagos (2nd Place): Garnering 369 entries, the school claimed the 2nd position, winning a prize of N300,000 and Products.
Joy Foundation School, Abuja (3rd Place): Accumulating 368 entries, the school earned the 3rd position and received a prize of N200,000 and Products.
Aside from the top three schools, 20 other schools across Nigeria received consolation prizes of N100,000 each. This gesture reflects Kellogg’s commitment to easing the financial burden of education for students and encouraging a healthy breakfast routine.
The Kellogg’s Superstar Scholarship Presentation ceremony was graced by distinguished figures, including Mr. Kayode Oyekanmi, Director, Strategy Centre, Ministry of Information Lagos State; Mrs. Omolayo Akinlade, Director, Education Resource Centre; and Hon. Babatunde Adewale, Permanent Board Member, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board [LASUBEB].
Mr. Kayode Oyekanmi, Director, Strategy Centre, Ministry of Information Lagos State commented: “Kellogg Tolaram Nigeria has embarked on a commendable journey to uplift education and nurture young minds. Their dedication to addressing critical issues in our educational system is praiseworthy.”
Mrs. Omolayo Akinlade, Director, Education Resource Centre stated: “Education is the cornerstone of progress, and Kellogg Tolaram Nigeria’s initiative is a testament to their commitment to the development of our future leaders.”

Darlington Igabali, Marketing Manager Kellogg’s also spoke at the event, expressing that the Super Star Essay Competition was conceived to address the increasing primary school dropout rate in Nigeria, as highlighted by UNICEF, and that the initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents while promoting healthy breakfast habits and providing educational support for young superstars.

SYSTEMSPECS CHILDREN’S DAY ESSAY COMPETITION (CDEC), 2024
Purpose:
Inaugurated in 2020, the CDEC is part of SystemSpecs’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to promoting capacity development in the Nigerian ICT industry. By encouraging young Nigerians to tackle everyday issues, the competition contributes to intellectual growth and societal progress.
Topic:
The theme for the 2024 competition is “Protecting the Nigerian Child from the Dangers of Online Technology.” Participants are tasked with exploring strategies to safeguard children in an increasingly digital world.
Eligibility:
– Open to primary and secondary school students in Nigeria aged 9 to 16.
– Junior category (ages 9 to 12) essays must not exceed 1,000 words.
– Senior category (ages 13 to 16) essays must not exceed 1,500 words.
Prizes:
