IGBINEDION UNIVERSITY GETS NUC APPROVAL FOR 5 DEPARTMENTS, 11 NEW PROGRAMMES.
The National University Commission, NUC has approved additional five new departments in Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State to the current departments in the Institution.
Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State is a private University with 29 departments before the accreditation of the new five departments, which moved the departments to 34 departments.
The accreditation has also moved up the undergraduate programmes offering in the University from 38 programmes to 55 programmes.
This was made available to the public by the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, while speaking with the newsmen in the Institution premises after the University’s 10th Entrepreneurial Day.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the new accredited programmes were digital and technology-based programmes, which is inline with the Institution parole/mantra to produce “future-ready graduates”.
The approval of the new departments and programmes has made Igbinedion University, Okada the largest private university with the highest accredited departments in Nigeria. Also moved from 19 post graduate programmes to 24 programmes.
The new approved departments are, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Engineering, B.Sc in Pharmacology, B.Sc in Software Engineering, B.Sc in Mechatronics, B.Sc in Environmental Engineering, B.Sc in Cybersecurity.
While the new accredited post graduate degree programmes are Postgraduate Diplomas, Ph.D Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D in Computer Engineering, Ph.Dbin Mechanical Engineering, Ph.D Urban and Regional Planning and Ph.D in Sociology.
The Vice Chancellor pointed that, all the newly introduced 11 programmes are already accredited by the National University Commission, NUC as well as all professional bodies the University is affiliated to.
In our Institution, we don’t just graduate students, we graduate students and we describe them as “blue sky graduates” which means (top rated graduates”. The blue sky is always on the top that is one of our vision here in Igbinedion University.

This achievable because is part of the vision of the founder of the University, Sir Gabriel Igbinedion, to setbup a place that can produce excellence through teaching and research in the context of national and international demands.
The Vice Chancellor expressed his joy over the progress status of the University, saying we did matriculation ceremony for the newly admitted students recently and I was so happy to let the parents of the students know that the University is cosmopolitan in nature, we have students across the 36 states in this country.
He said, based on affirmation action, the University has already exceeded the 25 per cent threshold in the employment of women.
Based on Internationalization and partnership, qualitative educational deliveries, digitalization and research development, the four platforms made it know that, the University remains a top choice for the students and intending members of faculty across the world.
You see, every University that does not have a global outlook will not attract quality students, that’s why we have students across the states including the Federal Capital Abuja. he added.

SYSTEMSPECS CHILDREN’S DAY ESSAY COMPETITION (CDEC), 2024
Purpose:
Inaugurated in 2020, the CDEC is part of SystemSpecs’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to promoting capacity development in the Nigerian ICT industry. By encouraging young Nigerians to tackle everyday issues, the competition contributes to intellectual growth and societal progress.
Topic:
The theme for the 2024 competition is “Protecting the Nigerian Child from the Dangers of Online Technology.” Participants are tasked with exploring strategies to safeguard children in an increasingly digital world.
Eligibility:
– Open to primary and secondary school students in Nigeria aged 9 to 16.
– Junior category (ages 9 to 12) essays must not exceed 1,000 words.
– Senior category (ages 13 to 16) essays must not exceed 1,500 words.
Prizes:
