FUTA REGISTRY IS A PACE SETTER – VICE CHANCELLOR
The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Professor Adenike Oladiji, has described the Registry of the institution as a pace setter and the envy of other sister institutions in Nigeria. She gave the commendation at a meeting with the Registry staff on Monday, March 27th 2023. According to her FUTA Registry stands tall among its peers and the professionalism displayed by all cadres is also worthy of emulation.
The Vice Chancellor she emphasized the need for the Registry to be redefined so as to meet the challenges of university administration in the 21st century through improvement in performance. Professor Oladiji reiterated that the process of redefining starts by enjoying what one does so as to perform efficiently and optimally. She said the Registry is the engine room of the University that services all other arms regularly as occasions demand.
While encouraging the Registry staff on peaceful coexistence, Oladiji said peace only comes by giving and taking. She further urged the staff to shun acts possible of dragging the name of the institution in the mud, adding that the image of FUTA which is good can be better. She expressed optimism that the effort of FUTA Registry will in no distant time begin to yield great dividend.
In his welcome address, the Registrar, Mr. Richard Arifalo said FUTA registry has become a beacon and model for a number of registries in other institutions in the country, especially in the South West. He also confirmed that the Registry is the engine room of the University and that the roles played by Registry staff cannot be overemphasized, usurped or handled by non-Registry staff. Arifalo eulogized the founding fathers of the FUTA registry and gave special commendation to late Dr (Mrs.) Oyebade who initiated the registry annual lecture series in the university and expressed his delight that the tradition has been copied by other universities.
He appreciated the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oladiji and said that her coming into the picture to lead FUTA has been a blessing as she has been very strategic in ensuring the advancement of the Registry. He said he would never stop to be thankful as a lot of hurdle such as conversion of staff from one cadre to another, stagnation of some staff and some other issues were adequately addressed in his time as Registrar.

– Referencing: APA Style (6th Edition).
