DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY, IBADAN ANNOUNCES ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POST OF VICE CHANCELLOR
Qualified members of the Public who are interested in applying to the position are hereby urged to take note of the following details and act accordingly:
THE INSTITUTION: Dominican University Ibadan (DUI) is a private faith-based university founded by the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in Nigeria. The Federal Government of Nigeria granted the university its provisional license to operate as a private university on November 22, 2016 and its full operational license on June 1, 2020.
The University currently runs a total of eight (8) programmes and operates with two Faculties, namely: Faculty of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences; and Faculty of Science.
THE POSITION: VICE CHANCELLOR The Vice-Chancellor serves as the academic and administrative head of the University. The Vice Chancellor shall see to the day-to-day administration of the University. As chief executive, the Vice Chancellor exercises general academic supervision over the University and shall be responsible for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order of the University.
The Vice Chancellor shall be responsible to the Governing Council in the management of human, monetary, and other resources of the University.
THE CANDIDATE The candidate for the post of the Vice Chancellor is required to possess the following qualifications and characteristics:
1. Must be a distinguished scholar with a doctorate degree and be a full professor of not less than ten (10) years standing.
2. Possess proven ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University community.
3. A proven track record of academic excellence such as to be able to command the respect of national and international academic communities and colleagues.
4. Possess a clear and compelling vision for the further development of the University and the realization of its vision, mission and strategic goals.
5. Have proven and demonstrable ability to attract international research and development grants.
6. Possess exemplary integrity that inspires trust and confidence.
7. A proven capacity to attract crucial funding and benefactions to the University.
8. Demonstrable ability to establish and maintain partnerships with local, national & international governmental and non-governmental agencies and organizations.
9. Proven capacity for human, monetary and material resources management.
10. Possess interpersonal and team-building skills and ability to build bridges between staff, students and other members of the university community and stakeholders.
11. Robust physical and mental health with the stamina and resilience required to lead a 21st Century university with passion and enthusiasm.
12. Possess proven compliance with Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE APPLICABLE TO THE POST
The Vice Chancellor shall hold the office for a term of five (5) years only on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the appointment letter.
The remuneration and fringe benefits are comparable with that in similar institutions and negotiable.
MODE OF APPLICATION
A complete application package includes the following.
1. The application should be accompanied with the Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the applicant, duly signed and dated. The CV must contain the applicant’s Full Name (with surame in the upper case), Date of Birth, Town and State of Origin, Nationality, Religion (and denomination), Postal Address (including GS number and Email Address), Home Address, Marital Status, Names and Ages of Children, Institutions| Attended with Dates, Academic Qualifications (degrees with classes: copies of certificates to be enclosed), Teaching, Research, Administrative and Managerial Experience, Academic Distinctions, Membership of Academic and Professional Bodies (with copies of certificate of membership enclosed) and Scholarly Publications and Presentations.
2. The application should include the names and addresses (residential, postal and electronic emails) of three (3) Referees.
3. Each Referee shall be required to forward directly to the Registrar a confidential report on the candidate’s character. academic and managerial abilities, and other salient qualities.
The report should be enclosed in a sealed envelope which should be marked: Post of Vice Chancellor: “Referee’s Report” at the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
4. The application MUST be accompanied by the applicant’s Statement of Vision for the University for the next five years. The statement must not be longer than 5,000 words.
5. In case of candidates identified by the Search Team, such a candidate shall conform to the above-stated requirements and, in addition, present a Letter of Consent duly signed along with the application.
6. Interested candidates are required to forward their complete application in both hard and soft copies. Fifteen (15) hard copies are required. The sealed envelope(s) containing the complete application should be clearly marked “Post of Vice-Chancellor” at the top left-hand corner and forwarded to the Registrar on or before Sunday, December 17, 2023.

SYSTEMSPECS CHILDREN’S DAY ESSAY COMPETITION (CDEC), 2024
Purpose:
Inaugurated in 2020, the CDEC is part of SystemSpecs’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to promoting capacity development in the Nigerian ICT industry. By encouraging young Nigerians to tackle everyday issues, the competition contributes to intellectual growth and societal progress.
Topic:
The theme for the 2024 competition is “Protecting the Nigerian Child from the Dangers of Online Technology.” Participants are tasked with exploring strategies to safeguard children in an increasingly digital world.
Eligibility:
– Open to primary and secondary school students in Nigeria aged 9 to 16.
– Junior category (ages 9 to 12) essays must not exceed 1,000 words.
– Senior category (ages 13 to 16) essays must not exceed 1,500 words.
Prizes:
