67 suspects apprehended by police for kidnapping and other crimes
According to the Nigeria Police Force, a total of 67 suspects have been apprehended across the nation for various criminal activities such as kidnapping, gun running, armed robbery, and banditry.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed this information in a statement released on Tuesday via the Force X account.
Adejobi stated that the police also seized 5,454 rounds of live ammunition, 300 live cartridges, 50 empty ammunition shells, 68 rifles, and 33 ATM cards, among other items.
He highlighted the arrest of three individuals who are part of a gun-running syndicate linked to attacks in Plateau State during the Christmas Eve period.
These suspects, Ahmed Sulaimon, Balikisu Aliyu, and Aboki Samuel, are currently held in custody. Furthermore, the police recovered an AK-47 rifle, an AK-49 rifle, 1000 rounds of live ammunition, and five magazines from them.
Additionally, the statement provided details regarding the arrest of four suspects connected to a bank robbery in Otukpo, where nine AK-47 rifles were confiscated.
During a confrontation in Taraku village, Benue State, five suspects succumbed to police action, admitting to the crime and implicating other accomplices who are still at large.
The statement read, “Continuing the ongoing efforts of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to combat crimes and criminal activities nationwide, the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Department Tactical Team- DFI-IRT and DFI-STS has successfully apprehended 67 suspects involved in various crimes such as kidnapping, gunrunning, one-chance, armed robbery, and banditry across the country.
“The police have also recovered 5,454 rounds of live ammunition of different calibers, 300 live cartridges, 50 empty shells of ammunition, 68 rifles, and 33 different ATM cards among other items.
“One of the notable achievements is the arrest of three suspects who are part of a gunrunning syndicate responsible for the Christmas Eve attacks in some villages in Plateau State. They are currently in police custody, cooperating with the investigation.
“The suspects are (1) Ahmed Sulaimon (2) Balikisu Aliyu (3) Aboki Samuel. Upon their arrest, 1 AK-47 rifle, 1 AK-49 rifle, 1000 rounds of live ammunition and five magazines were recovered from them.
“Furthermore, four suspects were apprehended in connection with a bank robbery in Otukpo, where nine AK-47 rifles were confiscated from them. During a fierce confrontation at their hideout in Taraku village, Buruku LGA of Benue State, five suspects were overpowered by the police and confessed to committing the crime, implicating other gang members who are currently at large.
“They all confessed to committing the heinous act and named other gang members, including Terzungwe Shionda a.k.a ‘3-star general’ (now deceased), Terlumum Pila, and an individual named Ayuko who are still at large, as the ones supplying them with arms for their operations on loan.
“The IGP reaffirms the commitment of the Police to ensuring the safety and security of our citizens by relentlessly cracking down on criminals and criminal activities, and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure Nigeria is a safe space for everyone.”

Purpose:
