Niger State Assembly Approves Nasiru Muazu as Chairman of Judicial Service Commission

The appointment of Nasiru Muazu as the chairman of the State Judicial Service Commission has been confirmed by members of the Niger State House of Assembly.

Additionally, Alh. Ibrahim Musa Kigera, Adamu Isah Mashegu, Barr. Adamu Usman, Barr. Waziri Abdulkadir, and Isyaku Fawa were also confirmed as members of the commission.

Prior to the confirmation during plenary, the chairman of the Committee on Judiciary and Legal Matters and representative of Borgu constituency, Abdulrahman Bala Gambo, informed the House in his report that the nominees underwent a screening process to determine their eligibility and qualification for the appointment.

He stated, “The curriculum vitae and the credentials of the nominees were scrutinized, and they provided satisfactory answers to the questions asked, thus proving their suitability for the appointment.”

The assembly also passed a bill into law to establish a housing scheme for the state’s judicial officers, a proposal sponsored by Abdulrahman Bala Gambo.

Presenting the report, Gambo highlighted that the housing scheme law aims to provide personal homes to judicial officers and act as a positive incentive to resist any form of temptation that could compromise the morality of their judicial functions.

He remarked, “The law will contribute to promoting judicial independence and reducing all forms of corruption among judicial officers.”

Following the report presentation, Speaker Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji read the bill for the third time, and it was subsequently passed into law.

He then praised the members of the Committee on Judiciary and Legal Matters for their diligent work and instructed the clerk to send clean copies of the law to the executive for assent.
