KWARA GOVERNMENT WARNS PRINCIPALS AGAINST EXTORTION OF STUDENTS, ANNOUNCES APPROVED REGISTRATION FEES FOR NECO

The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Saadatu Kawu, has said, Kwara State Government will not tolerate indiscriminate charges for National Examinations Council, NECO in Kwara State.

She said, Kwara State Government will sanction any school principal that collects above approved fees for National Examinations Council, NECO for the 2023 session.

According to her, the approved fees for the 2023 National Examinations Council, NECO is N20,450, any school principal caught extorting students above this price will pay the price for it.

NECO fees is N17,800, Administratve charge fee to school is N1,100, E-registration of candidates is N1,050 and four-figure table for their mathematics and other calculation subjects will attract N500, everything sum up to N20,450.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Each school in Kwara State are to pay N5,200 for a photo album, waterproof certificate jacket and syllabus.

In her speech, she also emphasis on external students, she said no school principal should allow any external candidates for this year 2023 NECO registration exercise.

Saadatu reveal this at St. Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin, as the state government officially flagged off registration for this year’s National Examinations Council, NECO in the state. This agreement was reach and approved by the State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Director, Curriculum and Assessment of the Ministry, Hajia Folashade Raji, when talking directed all schools in the state to made directly to Kwara State Internal Revenue Device, kWIRS.

 

 

 

 

 

This part of Kwara State Government ongoing reform agendas, to curb the extortion of candidates on external examinitions by some school principals in Kwara state.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking at the Occasion, the President of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, Comrade Usman Abdullahi Commended the efforts of Kwara State Governor, Gov. Abdulrahmon Abdulrazaq for his utmost support in redeeming the education system in the state.

He also ensure that, all principals in the state will surely abide by the approved price, any principals caught extorting students above the approved fees by the state Government will be sanction.

Chairman of Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, Kwara State Chapter, Bashir Oyewo also commend the state Governor and also use the avenue to solicited the cash backing of promotion arrears of Kwara State Teaching Service Teachers and SUBEB staff in the state.

He urged the State Government to find lasting solution to salary disparity between TESCOM staff and SUBEB staff in Kwara State.

He also appealed to Governor Abdulrahmon Abdulrazaq to please consider the appointment of teachers as Permanent Secretaries I’m the state.

The promise on behalf of others School Principals and teachers to be a productive teacher in their line of work and to curb Examination malpractice.
