Ekiti State Government Receives Special Military Deployment to Tackle Insecurity
A detachment of military personnel has been deployed to Ekiti State by the Ekiti State Government. The purpose of this deployment is to combat the activities of kidnappers, bandits, and other criminals in the state.
During an address to the troops at the Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Brig-Gen. John Lar, stated that the soldiers were deployed to Ekiti to eliminate the criminals tormenting the state.
Brig-Gen. Lar further emphasized that the troops would thoroughly search Ekiti State and its neighboring states, ensuring that there would be no safe haven for criminals.
He added, “There will be no distinction between day and night. They are expected to clear the bushes within 24 hours. We have just arrived, and we are commencing the operation immediately.”
Special Adviser on Security, Ekiti State, Brig-Gen. Ebenezer Ogundana (Rtd), indicated that the soldiers had been instructed by the Chief of Army Staff to significantly enhance the security presence in the state and eradicate criminals hiding in the forests.
Brig-Gen. Ogundana reassured the people, stating, “Ekiti has been a peaceful state, but suddenly, we have been experiencing unfortunate incidents that are unprecedented. With the soldiers present, I can assure our people that everyone can rest assured.”
He also emphasized the importance of timely information from the public to aid the troops in carrying out their assignment, urging them to provide vital information about the whereabouts of criminals to facilitate the operation.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the operation was the advance party, with further support expected from the President of Nigeria, who directed the Chief of Army Staff.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on security matters extended a warm welcome to the troops on behalf of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
