Sierra Leone’s capital Freetown witnessed an attack on a military armoury on Sunday, prompting the government to immediately impose a national curfew.

The government stated that the individuals attempting to breach the armoury were thwarted. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and explosions in the city’s Wilberforce district.

The information ministry assured the public in a statement that “the government and our state security forces are in control.”
