AAU MANAGEMENT RE-ASSURES STUDENTS OF WAeUP KOFA COMING BACK SOON

The Management of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, today reassured students of Ambrose Alli University that the University portal, WAeUP Kofa, will be coming back soon.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, stated this during a telephone conversation with our Admin.

He stated that discussions had been ongoing between the University Management and the Service Provider, and assured that a new MOU was in the offing. According to him , “Kofa will be back soon.”

The Acting Vice-Chancellor said he understood the anxiety of students over their personal data including course registrations, certificates and transcripts on the Kofa portal and assured that everything was intact.

He further informed that because agreement could not be reached and the service provider had to temporarily shut down its operations, Management had no option but to create a subsidiary portal to help meet the school’s activities and students needs while discussions continued with the service provider.

He urged all students to continue to do business in the new portal while waiting for the signing of a new MOU. He assured that Management would continue to resolve any issue that arose from using the services in the new Portal.

It would be recalled that the university portal WAeUP Kofa shut down its operations in AAU, November last year following a service disagreement between the school Management and the service provider after the expiration of the Memorandum which needed to be renewed.

WAeUP.Kofa is a multifunctional, open source, web based student management system to provide transparent and comprehensive information about application and study progress. The system controls all kinds of application and student registration processes at large schools and universities in Nigeria. It is a generic system which can be deployed by, and is useful to most universities, colleges or schools worldwide.

Below is a statement personally signed by the AVC after the telephone conversation with our Admin:

STATEMENT FROM AAU MANAGEMENT ON KOFA

We must be mindful of what we spew. Take this to the bank: discussions have been ongoing for months to resolve the Kofa issue.

I can say authoritatively that these discussions have now reached an advanced stage.

Let no one think this outcome is the product of any hash tag on social media. It is not the outcome of threats from any quarters either. We had a service disagreement after the expiration of the MOU between Management and the service provider in September, 2022, which led to the Portal going into maintenance mode some weeks after.

Then followed intense negotiations, while we developed a home grown solution. Now that the grey areas have been largely addressed, be rest assured that KOFA WILL BE BACK SOON.

Management assures all genuine students of Ambrose Alli University that their data are safe and will be accessible to them soonest and urges all those who have not done so to continue to use the present payment platforms to meet the obligations of participating in the second semester of the 2021/2022 examinations, which commence on Monday April 17th, 2023.

The ICT Unit and the Bursary will continue to resolve all payment concerns whenever and wherever they occur.

Management wishes all students resounding success in their examinations.
