HOW TO STUDY WITHOUT LOSING CONCENTRATION

Published

on

Hello beautiful reader, here’s another unique post by Sanni Arewa Eniola i hope you’ll enjoy it. I’ll appreciate your feedback.

Finding it hard to study? Studying without losing concentration can be very challenging for everyone and especially students. This is the reason many people take things like drugs and caffeine just to increase their concentration and get that book or material into their skulls by all means. These days, it is even hard to study for 30 minutes straight and harder to study for 30 minutes straight with full concentration. Am I right? This sometimes can cause failure because there are some subjects or courses that require full attention and concentration from the reader, so as to get firsthand understanding.
Being able to study without losing concentration and remembering all that you read is very paramount to student success at secondary and tertiary level. This article will help you approach reading differently and read with better concentration.

THINGS YOU MUST DO BEFORE READING TO CONCENTRATE FULLY

· EAT
Have you heard that a hungry man is an angry man? Yes! Have you ever tried reading and you keep hearing your stomach sing those angry songs of hunger to you? You must always have a good balanced meal before reading. Not too light and definitely not too heavy (Don’t swallow plenty Eba and start sleeping anyhow). Hunger can get you easily distracted and makes your reading session boring. I can’t concentrate when I’m thinking about a plate of fried rice and chicken. Can you?
· RELAX OR SLEEP
Trying to read with full concentration when your body is totally tired is near impossible. “Body no be firewood ”. Take time to rest well even before your reading. It makes the brain very sharp, alert and ready to receive information when you are ready to read. This is a very important way to boosting concentration!
· PLAN YOUR READING
Reading in a disorganized manner can definitely make the reading boring and make you lose concentration. Make a plan of what you want to read and how you want to do so. Also, set a goal of what you want to cover during that particular reading session. This action helps direct your brain towards fulfilling that particular task and giving the book its full concentration.
CHOOSE A SUITABLE ENVIRONMENT
It is always very important for you to choose a place very comfortable for you to read. Stay away from distractions and make use of an environment you are very comfortable with.
THINGS YOU MUST DO DURING READING TO CONCENTRATE FULLY

· BE FOCUSED
Nothing aids concentration more than your own willingness to read and concentrate fully. Be fully focused and engaged in your reading. Soliloquizing can come in handy (explaining points to yourself), writing down points, making further researches when reading, etc. This pattern in particular has worked for me very well. It makes you enjoy the whole reading and even read longer than normal.
· TAKE BREAKS
In your attempt to study with full concentration, you must take short breaks from time to time. Your brain sometimes needs to relax from all the information being pumped into it. So take a 15minutes break or so, listen to some music, watch a short video, chat with a friend, etc. This helps you concentrate more especially when you are struggling with a boring course.
· READ IN A GROUP
The advantages of reading in groups are very numerous. It helps your understanding; it helps your remembrance and also helps you concentrate on what you are reading. Get a study group and read alongside them. A serious study group please.
READ WITH EARPHONES
This right here doesn’t work for everyone but it works well for some people, like me. Reading with earphones can help shut the door to every other form of distraction and enable you direct your mind towards your bookwork alone. Usually when I’m at a night class to read, I always ready with my earphones because it take my attention away from every single thing happening to me and helps me direct my energy to wards my book. You should try it out.
I hope you found this very helpful, remember sharing is caring so do well to share this to your social media pages. Thank you.
SUCCESS ALL THE WAY PARTNER!
