ALIERO UNIVERSITY DISTANCE SELF FROM ASUU OUTBURST ON ‘VARSITY IMMINENT COLLAPSE’
The acting Registrar of Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (KSUSTA) has disassociate itself from the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU of the University chapter, that the University is currently encountering imminent collapse.
The statement, which was made available to press men through the University Public Relations Officer, PRO Mallam Hussaini Adamu at the University,
Recall, the Academic Staff Union of the University, ASUU Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero chapter partake in an interview and which was published by National Daily Newspaper. The article titled”ASUU raises alarm as Kebbi varsity faces imminent collapse.
While reacting to the pubkicay, the school management clear air about the rumor and insisted that the publication was nothing but far from the truth.
According to the statement released by the Registrar of the institution Maimura Alhaji Tilli said, the institution wishes to call the attention of the general public that the relentless of the current management of the University under the umbrella of Prof. B.L Aliero has made immense efforts in promoting the academic excellence, staff welfare and construction of mordern infrastructural facilities with last five years which are in records.
Recall that the National University Commission, NUC releases a list of Universities that had their Programme fully accredited in December, 2021, in which Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero was rated 25th on the list.
Among the recent progress in the Institution environment is press released and attested by various accreditation teams that visited the University, releases that, the University is one of the best E-Library in the country with ultra-modern facilities.
The University employers of labour have being rating their graduates always above standard stressed that KSUSTA is one of the Universities in Nigeria that didn’t miss 2019/2020 academic session due to the Pandemic (COVID-19) lockdown in the Nation.
A recent visitation to the University by a team headed by the President of Association of Academic Technologist (NAAT), attested that the University is one of the richest in structures and and modern laboratory equipment.
It’s so sadden and unfortunately to hear that, the same University with these immense progress was labelled as the one facing “imminent collapse by some group of people. However, the publication cannot be directly attributable to the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU for being well informed and aware of the current position and situation of things in the institution.
All we know is that, ASUU has pending demands, which is general to all Universities in Nigeria from the Federal Government. The case is even better, because the state government of Kebbi State sympathize with lecturers and did not apply the “No Work, No Pay” policy on the Lecturers of the University.
He also disclosed that, Kebbi State Government has settled the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) of about N451,000,000. Disclosed further that, the authority of the University also paid the sum of N73,000,000 over the years followed by prompt payments of salaries.
The only pending demands is the implementation of annual increment of 2020 to date, implementation of promotions for 2020 and 2021 and payment of outstanding EAA from 2014 to 2021.
We urged the general public to disregard the public by the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU described it as the work of few desperate element which has no standard.
